Are your tours environmentally-friendly?
We are very proud to be recognised as a Qualmark Endorsed Visitor Activity. We also recently achieved Qualmark Enviro GOLD as one of the most environmentally-friendly tourism businesses in New Zealand.

Do I have to be fit?
This depends on the tour you would like to book. Most of our Auckland Tours cater for the more active traveller, so from slightly fit to Rambo and everything in between. It’s about enjoying our amazing environment rather than walking or paddling the longest possible distance. Please ask us if unsure.

Do you take children on your tours?
Children are welcome on our Auckland Tours, Auckland Maori Tours and Private Auckland Tours including Auckland to Rotorua Private Tours etc. Where we don’t take children it is only due to our extensive safety precautions and to keep them safe

We don’t like bus tours in large groups. So what is the group size for your tours?
Our Auckland Tours cater for Free Independent Travellers (FIT) that wish to experience a more personal and high quality tour than provided with lots of other people on the same tour. We target individuals, couples and families for up to 6 people on any one tour to ensure it’s all really personal and fun. We can also easily cater for larger groups with at least 24 hours advance notice.
What do you provide?
On all our Auckland Tours we provide everything you need for your tour such as all transport from and to your accommodation in Auckland city, lunch (full & overnight tours), snacks and hot/cold drinks. With prior notice, we also cater for special dietary requirements. We supply you with all safety equipment as applicable for each tour. This may include for example extensive safety equipment such as first aid kits, marine radios, flares and Personal Locator Beacons to maximise our safety in all situations.

What gear do I need?
For all our tours please bring clothes suitable for the weather conditions on the day. We recommend in addition
- A rain jacket and spare clothes to change into in case you get wet (especially for Kayaking, Kayak Fishing, Kite Fishing and Hiking).
- A sunhat (or warm hat in winter), sunscreen and sunglasses
- Your camera with LOTS of battery and memory space!
- Good walking shoes or hiking boots (for Hiking Tours)
- Swimming gear (for Kayaking, Kayak Fishing & Kite Fishing but also possible for other tours)
- For Overnight/Multi-Day Tours, please also bring a sleeping bag and outdoor mattress. We can supply you with a mattress if required.
- A smile!
Please let us know if you need anything; we are always happy to help.

What happens if it rains or the weather is bad?
No problem if it rains. We can help out with umbrellas etc. In some cases such as fishing tours, rain is often a good thing since the fish bite better than on the bright sunny days! If for any reason we deem the weather to be unsuitable (a bit of rain is not such a reason), then we may cancel a tour and give you the choice between a full refund and postponement of a tour to another day. For our Kayak Fishing Tours, Kayak Tours and Kite Fishing Tours we ask you to call us the day before the tour to reconfirm that the weather is suitable to go ahead with the tour.

What if I am on my own?
Unlike many other guided tours, we don’t exclude you if you are alone. We are happy to take bookings from one person for all our tours, except where explicitly stated that a tour is suitable only for groups. At present this is only the case for Maori TIME – Maori Culture Experiences, so all other tours are bookable by just one person.
What if I prefer a different departure time?
Please ask us; we may be able to accommodate you. On all our Private Tours we can of course cater exactly to your requirements.
What is your guide to client ratio?
Our guide to client ratio is max 1 to 6 (one guide for 6 clients) for most of our tours. This is to keep it all really personal and also for safety reasons.
What is your payment and cancellation policy?
Payment can be made when booking by cash, cheque (needs to be cleared before a tour is booked), electronic bank transfer or Visa/MasterCard. We can only make bookings upon receipt of payment and we cannot reserve spaces on our tours unless we have firm and paid bookings. Our cancellation fees for all our Auckland Half Day Tours, Auckland Full Day and Overnight Tours are: Within 48 hours before the start of a tour: no refund. Over 2 days: 80% refund. Please refer to our extensive Terms and Conditions document.
What is your safety record?
We have a 100% safety record since starting operation back in 2005. As a very safety conscious business we provide all safety related items and an extensive briefing to all participants is provided before, and where appropriate during, all our tours. We also ensure safe and careful operation of all our high-quality equipment, so gear is provided under the condition that clients will be liable to pay for any damage they may cause.
Where do trips depart from?
Pick ups and return are usually from the main entrance to the Sky Tower in the centre of Auckland, or from outside the Auckland Ferry Building for all our Auckland Tours. We also pick up and return to your Auckland city hotel to make it easiest for you. We do ask you to wait outside the hotel, since parking can be quite a problem when picking up from Auckland inner city hotels.
Where do we go?
This depends on the tour you have booked with us. We visit a variety of stunning locations in the Auckland region and beyond to ensure you see only the very best of our amazing country that is New Zealand. Please click on each tour section for more details.
Will I be safe on your tours?
Our guides are extensively qualified to ensure you will be safe on all our tours. In fact we exceed all normal safety precautions where possible to ensure you have both a great time and are safe while in our care.
