The second half of your experience sees you journeying to Auckland’s West Coast and Waitakere Ranges. Walk among unique indigenous trees and plants while learning their Maori names and their importance as both food and medicine. Immerse yourself in the culture and atmosphere of Te Wao Nui o Tiriwa the ancient forest of Tiriwa, all while your guide enriches you with lore and legends of the bush.
The journey to the West Coast is almost as scenic as the bush walk itself. Start your day with a stop at the Arataki Visitor Centre where in good weather you can see breathtaking views across the Waitakere Ranges, Auckland City and the huge expanses of the Manukau Harbour.
