Auckland to Waitomo Caves Private Tour

The Waitomo Caves, which are located about 2.5 hours south of Auckland, are one of New Zealand’s most famous attractions. On our Private Tours we plan the day according to your wishes and at Waitomo there are numerous activities to choose from as all our clients’ interests and budgets vary. On this tour we travel via New Zealand’s famous Thermal Explorer Highway touring route taking in the special region of Hamilton through the beautiful countryside of Waikato and King Country. Our very experienced and knowledgeable local Host-Guides will tell you about New Zealand and its extraordinary places you’ll see along the approximately 2.5 hour journey to and from Waitomo.

Waitomo is an amazing natural wonderland which offers a vast range of unique sights and experiences. As an option for your tour, we can also visit the nearby Kiwi House in Otorohanga, where you can see the Kiwi, our national bird and emblem, as well as many of our flora and fauna. We can also arrange further options (additional cost) to cater for your particular preferences and abilities, and to create your own special Waitomo experience. These options could be:

• The best Glowworm Experience at Waitomo Caves where you’ll see huge, natural underground chambers lit by glowworms. As with all our tours, we can offer you a much more personalised experience, since we know all the tours available here!
• Black water rafting, where you’ll float, walk and swim along underground waterways on a big, inflated tube. This is for the more adventurous and is great fun!

On our Private Luxury Tours from Auckland, we offer the various Waitomo caving options separately to our Private Tour since we have found that our guests like to be able to book the caving option (gentle tour or adventurous option to explore the caves) they prefer. After time for some lunch in Waitomo (own cost but you can choose to include lunch) , on our return trip to Auckland we again pass through beautiful New Zealand countryside as you relax in our luxurious vehicle on your comfortable journey back to Auckland. Our return time at your Auckland accommodation depends on which option you booked at Waitomo Caves and your requirements, such as to ensure timely return for your cruise ship departure where applicable.
