Detailed itinerary

Day 1: We pick you up in Christchurch and make our way north to arrive in Nelson for you to spend the afternoon in one of New Zealand’s sunniest cities. From wine tours to art tours to visiting its museums, there is plenty for you to enjoy. If you’re looking for more adventurous options, how about cycling, hiking or kayaking to explore the beautiful outdoor environment. We can take you to Happy Valley Adventures for an action packed day of activities ranging from horse trekking to paintball to quad biking to flying the skywire - the world’s longest flying fox adventure! Not only will you be able to admire the stunning native forest but also the thrill of the high speeds as you ride both forwards and backwards!

For your first two nights’ accommodation you have the option of staying in Nelson or the beautiful Abel Tasman region.

Day 2: After breakfast we can make our way to New Zealand’s smallest and only coastal national park - Abel Tasman National Park for a day spent either relaxing or getting your adrenaline pumping. You can walk between beaches and native lush forest or relax in a golden cove. You can explore the golden sand beaches and clear turquoise waters either by kayak, water taxi, or sailing catamaran. Or if you’re really feeling adventurous why don’t you try skydiving or Abel Tasman Canyons where you’ll be jumping off cliffs into pools of water and abseiling through waterfalls.

Accommodation in Nelson or Abel Tasman.

Day 3: We make our way to the town of Franz Josef which is home to one of the most accessible glaciers in the world. You have the opportunity to experience an incredible glacier adventure at Franz Josef Glacier, where you can get up close to the ice with a guided glacier hike, a heli-hike or just enjoy an incredible air sightseeing tour. After a long day you can unwind and relax at Glacier Hot Pools which are surrounded by beautiful rainforest. You have the choice of private pools for a unique and romantic experience away from the crowds or if you really want to relax how does a spa and massage sound?

Accommodation in the Franz Josef region.

Day 4: We head along the beautiful west coast which the drive in itself should be an attraction as the scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Along the way you will see diverse landscapes from rainforests to stunning lakes and mountains.

We then drive through Haast where you can get out and stretch your legs with an easy five minute walk to see the spectacular Thunder Creek Falls. We then head past the World Heritage listed Mt Aspiring National Park where we can arrive in Wanaka which is a fantastic resort town surrounded by more beautiful scenery with its lakes, rivers and mountains.

For the next 3 nights’ accommodation you have the option of staying in either the Wanaka or Queenstown region.

We can arrive at the stunning Lake Wanaka with its crystal clear waters and stunning scenery that comes from being surrounded by mountains. Here you’ll receive a warm welcome from passionate locals and whether you’re after adventure or relaxation, it’s all at your own pace.

You could visit Wanaka’s wonderful world of weirdness - Puzzling World. The rooms of illusion and bizarre buildings will leave you baffled. See if you can complete the world-famous Great Maze! If you love waterfalls and incredible natural beauty, then climb alongside some of Wanaka’s most iconic waterfalls and enjoy the breathtaking views that surround you with a Wildwire Wanaka tour. If you want to experience a nature tour off the beaten track then Ridgeline Adventures could be for you. They offer 4WD nature safaris and photography tours showing you their personal favourite spots that Wanaka has to offer.

A great way to discover Wanaka is by taking a helicopter to a 4000 ft. landing site high up on Coromandel Peak that overlooks Wanaka and the Southern Alps, providing incredible photo opportunities. In winter skiers and snowboarders can hit the slopes at Treble Cone or Cardrona. Or for the ultimate experience, heli-ski to the untouched powder in the Harris Mountains. If heli-skiing doesn’t cut it you can try either heli-hiking or heli-biking through some incredible vistas. Other year round activities include fishing, jet boating, canyoning, skydiving and hiking.

Your second option is continuing towards Queenstown where we drive over The Crown Ranges which is the highest main road in New Zealand and offers some truly incredible views.

Along the way we stop in the small resort town of Cardrona and visit the iconic Cardrona Hotel either for a look around and a photo opportunity or for a coffee and bite to eat. We also make a stop in the historic gold mining town of ArrowTown. Whether you want to explore its great outdoors or browse its shops and museum or relax over a delicious meal, the choice is yours. If you are a golfer, then the golf course at Millbrook Resort is a must play! It is one of the most scenic golf courses in the world and is also a championship course.

Surrounded by majestic mountains and situated on the shores of crystal clear Lake Wakatipu we can arrive in Queenstown, our premier four season lake and alpine destination. With its stunning scenery and wide range of activities, it offers a perfect mix of both action and relaxation.

You’ll shortly see why Queenstown is known as the adventure capital of New Zealand. There’s snowboarding and skiing in winter, and activities ranging from jet boating, bungy jumping, river rafting, horse trekking, skydiving, paragliding, hang gliding to even hot air ballooning for you to enjoy all year round.

A must see Queenstown attraction is the Skyline Gondola which offers absolutely breathtaking views overlooking Queenstown. There are plenty of things to enjoy at the top including the award winning cuisine at the scenic Stratosfare restaurant and bar, a Maori cultural experience witnessing a Haka being performed, two thrilling luge tracks, paragliding, AJ Hackett's Bungy and Swing, and if you go up after dark you can have an amazing stargazing experience as it provides an unbelievably clear view of the night sky.

You have the opportunity to cruise Lake Wakatipu aboard the iconic steamship the TSS Earnslaw to experience some of Queenstown’s most spectacular alpine scenery while also exploring this 103 year old steamship. If you’d like more than just a cruise you can add on a visit to Walter Peak High Country Farm for a taste of New Zealand’s farming lifestyle. Here you can take a guided farm tour, go on a horse trek, and have a lovely barbecue lunch or dinner.

You can also take a helicopter flight to expose breathtaking views of Lake Wakatipu and the stunning Queenstown region.

If you want to witness a true slice of paradise then we can take you on the spectacular drive to Glenorchy which sits at the northern end of Lake Wakatipu. If you like you can explore the beautiful scenery Glenorchy has to offer by horseback, jet boat, kayak or even by air either on a scenic flight or experience the thrill of a skydive. Any Lord of the Rings fans? Glenorchy has been the backdrop for many of the trilogy’s key scenes and you can take a scenic guided tour to explore some of these locations and gain a great insight about the filming stories and secrets.

There is a wide range of outstanding accommodation options here in Queenstown and we can help advise what would be the best fit for you and arrange these on your behalf.
